Spectacular Views:

Overlooking the Kenai Mountain Range and the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.

Alaska Mountainview Cabins are centrally located on the beautiful Kenai Peninsula, just south of Anchorage (140 miles) and just north of Soldotna & Kenai, and an easy 15 minute walk to the famous Kenai River, via Morgan's Landing State Recreation Area. It's an easy 90 minute commute and scenic drive to either Homer or Seward.

A few of the messages we have received from some very satisfied clients:

Our visit to Alaska started in Anchorage and moved North to Denali National Park where we camped for 2 nights. We then traveled North to Fairbanks and then back South along the Western edge camping at various sites and fishing as much as we could. I forgot to mention that all of this was taking place during one of the warmest periods in Alaska in over 100 years. We couldn't escape the heat other than wading in the rivers and fishing.

After a week to 9 days of this we headed back to Anchorage and then down to the Kenai Peninsula where I had reservations for a cabin at the Alaska Mountainview Cabins. I came across the place on the web and thought that it sounded good and was very reasonably priced so I booked the Iliamna Cabin for the 6 of us. We arrived at the cabin (easy to find from the directions provided) and everything looked good from the outside. It was when we opened the door that our mouths dropped. The cabin was gorgeous and "Wow!" was the first word out of everyone's mouth. The kitchen was spacious, the living and dining room were good sized, and the 2 bedrooms on the bottom level were nice and big. Then there is the deck with a gorgeous view of the mountain range. Everyone was extremely pleased.

We had a Kenai River fishing trip and a Halibut charter out of Ninilchik scheduled for the next 2 days and both were within an hours drive away. It was so nice to come back to a comfortable cabin after these trips. Greg and Hannah were very accommodating to us. They didn't mind that we were going to arrive later in the evening and welcomed us when we arrived. They helped us with guided paths and showed us where to go to get to the Kenai river to fish on our own. The river is actually just a short walk from the cabins and is manageable even in waders.

I highly recommend a trip to the Alaska Mountainview Cabins, especially the Iliamna cabin. I will definitely be back, as will the rest of my party.

Of course, Mountain View Cabins is going to be my holiday destination again! There are many reasons for this, the following are my favorites:

  • The owners Hannah and Greg are very friendly and care about everybody and everything, it's like coming home. - I always enjoyed the perfect lodging and infrastructure, the nice surroundings, and all the conveniences involved.
  • The Kenai River is not far away and there are always good chances to catch fish. It is even not difficult to work out how to successfully catch a fish! Just watch the successful fisherman at the river and do the same. That's what I did and I am still very pleased with my performance.
  • It's an ideal base for touring the area. Hannah and Greg know the area in and out, they always recommended me very nice trips.

Hannah and Greg have some nice places to stay and in regard to improvements, I can't think of any. We just loved staying with you guys and you can bet that if nothing stands in our way we will give you a call when we start making plans for next year.

Thank you again for our wonderful stay in your deluxe accommodations. It was so nice to have a place where we could relax, spread out and feel right at home. When we show our pictures of our Alaska visit, we always brag on your place and have told many people, "When you plan your trip, we know the best place to stay!" We were so pleased to be able to cook some of our meals (and even grill out!) and not be lacking for any utensils we needed. And if we needed additional towels or anything else, they were promptly delivered to our door. Your attention to details without being intrusive is appreciated. Thanks, too, for lending us the area hiking maps. By knowing where to go and how to get there, we made some wonderful memories that we wouldn't have had otherwise. Hope to see you again soon.
Thanks again!

HONEYMOON
Hannah & Greg,
I just want to let you know that the one thing my husband and I cherish the most about our lives is our privacy. We live in the middle of nowhere simply because we wish to live our lives without being bothered. When we go away we like to go to other places in the middle of nowhere. Although your cabins were very conveniently located, and among other cabins, we felt very comfortable and isolated. The time of year that we were there was perfect for us, and the cabin was very private. It is very hard to get my husband to sit down and do nothing, but he managed to do it very well while we were there. Our honeymoon was perfect. We rented movies in Soldotna and took a walk to Morgan's Landing and scavenged for lost lures. And trust me- we didn't miss the view much. Thank you for you're laid back approach and making it easy for us to have the weekend we hoped for.
Sincerely,
Lisa Bernstine

We have been privileged to experience a month long stay in the Iliamna Cabin at Alaska Mountainview Cabins during each of the past 3 winters. While most folks who hear of our plans accuse us of being crazy, there are a few who understand the joys of Alaska in the winter. We enjoy the peace, quiet, and awesome beauty of this place far from cities and under a blanket of undisturbed snow - except for moose tracks!

The wildlife viewing is great, with almost daily moose visits (a couple of times right up to the front door!), eagles in the trees, and occasional coyote sightings. We have also seen lynx, Dahl sheep and mountain goats on road trips to Anchorage. Oddly enough, there hasn't been heavy snowfall while we are there in the Jan/Feb period. The temperature is milder than the East Coast; the air is crisp and clean, and viewing of the Northern Lights fantastic!! The area out front of the cabin offers a great viewing spot, one that we enjoyed sharing with friends and neighbors.

It's easy to be busy during this time- quite a surprise to some. Activities range from local theater productions, bookstore readings, and musical concerts to curling up on the extremely comfortable Day Bed in the beautiful warm cabin with a good book. There are also the Peninsula Winter Games, which include our favorite, the ice carving competition, as well as snowshoe softball, ice demolition derby, hockey games and dog sled racing. Short trips to Homer to view the winter eagle feeding and Anchorage for the Fur Rendezvous festival round out our stay in spectacular style!

The local folks in general and our landlords in particular are the friendliest and warmest people you could hope to meet! Their grace and style is what really makes this the perfect place to stay. The log cabin is a beautifully crafted, warm, and fully equipped home. So while others come to Alaska in the summer for the fishing, we are looking forward to many more winter vacations in our home away from home, the Iliamna Cabin.

HONEYMOON
Dear Hannah and Greg,
Mary and I just want to thank you so much for such a wonderful time at your Hide-A-Way Place. Now that Mary and I are back home, we look back to our trip in Alaska as something of a wonderful journey, and you and Greg helped so much to make it great.

We have commented to each other how much you and Greg made us feel so welcome. You both were so kind and generous to us and you both are very wonderful people. You both went above and beyond to make Mary and I feel very comfortable and relaxed on our honeymoon. It was so thoughtful that Greg even called us one night to tell us of a concert that we could go to in town.

Both of you will remain in mine and Mary's heart and thoughts as to what made our honeymoon a perfect thing in our lives. Thank you both again so much and take care of yourselves.
Tim Murphy and Mary Montavon-Mckillip

Ric & I just wanted to wish you a prosperous New Year.  Thanks for the Xmas card.

The lodging and hospitability the you provided at Mountainview Cabins was great.  We talk of the times that we had in Alaska whenever we get together. I still can't believe how nice the cabins from your lodging were.  Not only were they clean, spacious (two floors ---- that in itself was unbelievable) but the kitchen allowed us to cook complete meals, with a range, oven and microwave.  The large fridge was good to store food in and we were able to keep some of the Reds and Halibut in it.   We even watched Jerry Springer late at night ....
You provided a vacuum sealer to help seal the Reds and Halibut and a nice and large deep freezer to hold our catch in.  When we were leaving, you loaned us coolers to take our fish back on the plane with us to Toledo, Ohio.....

When we stayed at your lodge last July we just barely got into the first running of the Reds in the Keno ...... but I will tell you that I never had so much fun in my life as catching those Reds.    We joke that all that we needed was a hook to catch 'em..... I made all of the lures and tied the knots for the rigs ...... Funny thing is that the previous year we did the same thing .... we made our own rigs but we didn't have enough beads or yarn ... but had enough hooks ...   At first we started with 3.0 red hooks, two beads, and peach yarn ..... we caught the Reds on this setup ..... when we ran out of beads, we still caught them on yarn .... when we ran our of yarn ... we caught the Reds on only hooks .... when we ran out of hooks ...... well we just bought more hooks and continued fishing ....

One thing that I can say, you folks were a pleasure to stay with ..... and we will stay with you guys during our next stay in Alaska .... WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND MOUNTAIN VIEW CABINS ..... THE VIEW FROM THE BACK OF OUR CABIN WAS REALLY PRETTY ...... Oh .... by the way Does the sun ever set up there?

Best Regards,

Jim HawkinsRic White

Hannah and Greg,

I would like to tell you what a wonderful experience we had staying at your cabins in July of 2004. The accomodations and scenery were truly spectacular. Not to mention the hospitality you showed us! Your cabins were very clean, spacious, and well equipped. The fully stocked kitchen allowed us to save quite a bit of our money by allowing us to cook our meals instead of having to eat out every night. The large refridgerator let us store all our food, pop, and adult beveridges with no problems. The freezer also allowed us to freeze some of the Reds, and Halibut that we caught.

Whenever the four of us guys get together, we talk about what a great time we had in Alaska. Your cabins are situated in such a way that we were never farther than a short car trip to anywhere that we needed to be. I will never forget the view from the back deck of our cabin! I took several pictures of that view, and even went so far as to use one of them as my background on my computer.

I would also like to thank you for the use of your vacuum sealer and the extra large freezers on site that we used to freeze our catch of Red Salmon and Halibut. Between the four of us we managed to ship 240# of fish back to Ohio. My wife and I still have some of each kind of fish in our freezer. In my opinion Halibut has to be one of the better tasting fish to be found. Although Red Salmon has to be one of the most fun fish to catch. There were several nights that we were still on the river fishing at midnight! I would (and have!) recommended your cabins to anyone that has asked me about my trip. You truly made this one of if not the best vacation experience of my life.
Thank you once again,  Ric White, Jim Hawkins, Tom Reiter, & Danny Reiter.
